> How to flash ARK-5 using CustomIPL so it persists after powering off your PSP.

# Making ARK-5 Permanent

By default, ARK-5 runs as a temporary CFW. You need to relaunch FasterARK every time you power off your PSP. Flashing with CustomIPL makes it permanent.

Before doing this, you should have already completed the [first time install](/docs/psp/ark-5/install) and confirmed that ARK-5 is working.

## Steps

**1. Launch CustomIPL**

On your PSP, go to the **Game** tab in the XMB and launch **CustomIPL**.

**2. Install**

Press **Cross** or **Circle** to start the installation.

**3. Wait for it to finish**

The process runs automatically. Do not power off your PSP while it is running. Once complete, ARK-5 is permanently installed and will be active on every boot.
